The inaugural International Cobham Cup ended today at Chelsea’s new training facility just outside of London in Cobham with Argentina’s River Plate taking home the gold medal. Eight under-16 teams participated in the event including FC Tolyatti, River Plate, Ajax, Bayern Munich, and a group of 18 US All-Stars that was selected from their performances at last year’s Disney Showcase. It was at the Disney Showcase that FC DELCO’s Andrew O’Malley was selected to participate.

Zack Steffen, GK of the U-14 FC Delco Cannibals, has been selected to the U-14 Boys National Camp from Nov. 26-Dec. 1 in Orlando at the Disney Sports Inter-Regional Classic after he was identified during play at the National Camp in Massachussetts in August.  Congratulations to Zack and best of luck.

Carson, CA - The FC DELCO Sting wrapped up a three game schedule at the NIKE US Friendlies hosted at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. Opening the event, the Sting joined the US National teams at breakfast at the Home Depot Center watching the US Women win gold in the Olympics over Brazil. The FC DELCO Sting 91 Girls will be participating in the third annual 2008 Women’s Nike Friendlies on Aug. 21-24 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. More than 25 teams will participate in the prestigious youth competition, including three team’s representing the U.S. Under-14 and Under-15 Girls’ National Teams.  U.S. Soccer’s Women’s Nike Friendlies is an annual competition in which the best youth soccer clubs around the United States in the U-15, U-16 and U-17 age divisions are invited to The Home Depot Center in Carson for a high-level four-day event which stresses quality soccer and player development over wins and losses.

NaTasha Prentice of the U-16 Sting girls was selected to the Trinidad and Tobago U17 Womens National Team which will be participating in the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Football(CONCACAF) U17 Womens World Cup Qualifying Tournament. Tasha is currently in residency at the Joao Havelenge Center of Excellence in Tunapuna Trinidad. The tournament is slated to begin on July 17th and finish on July 24th. The top three(3) teams advance/qualify for the U17 Womens

The ownership group for Major League Soccer Philadelphia 2010 announced the hiring of two more key executives on Monday -- Rob Smith as director of operations and Dave Debusschere as chief financial officer. Both executives will officially begin their assignments on June 2.
